Arthur Turner has been a member of the state legislature since 1981. He has a master's degree in Social Justice, has worked as an investigator for the Cook County States Attorney, and since 1976, has invested in real estate. He was a bachelor in his own apartment for several years, marrying a few months before his thirtieth birthday.

Now, he and his wife, with their five- and six-year-old children, live in an apartment above his wife's business--a children's clothing store. It's 1988; they are considering moving to larger quarters.
