Arthur Turner grew up in the Chicago area. His father was a laborer and his mother was a registered physical therapist. He has a master's degree in Social Justice and has worked for the Cook County States Attorney. He began investing in real estate in 1976. He was a bachelor in his own apartment for several years. His mother taught him to be self-sufficient. In July of 1979 he was married. In 1983, he was elected to be a State Representative. It is 1988, Arthur and his wife, with their two sons, ages 5 and 6, live in an apartment above his wife's business--a children's used-clothing store. They are considering moving to a larger home. The details for this story were gathered through a series of oral interviews with Arthur Turner.
