Bonnie and Chuck waited another three years and were married in 1935. Chuck's salary was going up, but even then he was still short of their goal. He was making $180 a month, so Bonnie continued to live at home and Chuck continued to come back on weekends.

Not until 1937 did they gather together enough money to set up housekeeping on their own. Years later, they still remembered those courting years as a wonderful time, despite having to extend them for seven years.
