Fondue parties were very popular social gatherings at this time. Guests were given fondue forks and then gathered around a fondue pot of hot oil in which pieces of meat were cooked and then dipped into sauces. Linda Allgower of Des Plaines, Illinois, received this set as a Christmas gift in 1970 from her sister and brother-in-law.
