Made by Aurora Silver Plate Manufacturing Co., Aurora, IL
Silver plate, engraved glass
By the 1850s caster sets, which held containers of spices, sauces, and seasonings, were very important on the Victorian table and were made by many silver-plate manufacturers at this time. By 1869 one company offered over 120 designs. By the 1890s caster sets were beginning to be replaced in popularity by fruit dishes, center pieces, and berry bowls.
