Kitchen table and chairs, 1942

Steel, enamel, chrome, oil cloth

This table with chrome-plated legs has two leaves that pull out and lift to lock into place. The enameled top could also be trimmed in red or printed with red or black patterns. A table and two chairs similar to these were sold by the Interstate Metal Products Company of Chicago in 1940. The table cost $23.85; the chairs were available with black, blue, red, green, or ivory "leatherette" upholstery and cost $7.40 each. This set was purchased in 1942 by Dr. and Mrs. Charles for the black and white kitchen in their new home on Lake Springfield.
