Made by George A. Prince, Buffalo, NY
Rosewood, iron, brass, ivory
Music was very important in the Victorian home. Many women of this era played an instrument to show their gentility and good manners. Maria de la Fontaine Heimberger of Mascoutah, Illinois, used this organ to teach music to local students. Maria emigrated from Germany with her father in 1833. The letters written beneath the keys were for the benefit of her students.
