The purpose of a web is to help students clarify concepts. A circle with ideas radiating from it, draw the web on the board and write your topic in the middle of the circle. Ask students to contribute ideas which relate to this topic, have each idea radiate out from the topic. Webs can easily become mind maps if students begin to suggest other topics which relate to this main topic. Portray each new topic as its own circle and soon you and your students will have a universe of inter-related topics joined by filaments of ideas.
